Privacy notice

This notice tells you, in plain words, what Digital Skill Passport does with your personal data, why, and the choices you have. Our team runs Digital Skill Passport and decides how your data is used (the Data Fiduciary under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023). For questions, write to our Grievance Officer.

Version 2026-10-v2

This notice is waiting for legal and language review before launch. If the final text changes what we ask of you, we will ask you again.

Why we use your data: six purposes

You say yes or no to each purpose on its own. Each answer is saved with this notice version and your language.

  1. 1 · Your passport (needed)

To create your Digital Skill Passport, keep it safe and let you sign in with your mobile number.

  2. 2 · Matching (needed)

To compare your passport with jobs, training, schemes and other opportunities, and show the ones that fit you with the reasons.

  3. 3 · Helpdesk may call you (your choice)

When you show interest in an opportunity, our helpdesk may call you to help with the next steps. Asked the first time you show interest.

  4. 4 · Share with the opportunity owner (your choice)

Your name and phone number go to the owner of one opportunity, only if you say yes for that opportunity. Asked every time.

  5. 5 · Updates (your choice)

We send you updates about your interests by SMS or app notification. Asked once, the first time you show interest.

  6. 6 · Anonymous usage counts (your choice)

We count how the app is used, for example which screens are opened, to make it better. No name, phone number or address is sent. Off unless you turn it on.

What we collect

Your mobile number, and what you tell us for your passport: name, date of birth, gender, state, district and PIN code, education, skills and work, the goals you pick, and any IDs you choose to add. We never ask for your Aadhaar number, PAN, voter ID or caste certificate number.

Your choices

Purposes 1 and 2 are needed: without them there is no passport, so to stop them you delete your passport. Purposes 3 to 6 are your choice and you can change them any time in Me, Privacy and consent. If you stop purpose 3, open helpdesk calls about you are closed.

Who sees your data

Our helpdesk sees only what it needs to call you, and only after you show interest. An opportunity owner sees your name and phone number only if you say yes for that opportunity. Every time staff look at your phone number, it is logged. We do not sell your data or give it to advertisers.

Translation of listings

Public listing text, such as a job title or a course description, is translated into your language by a machine translation provider: Google Gemini, with Microsoft Azure as a backup. Your personal data is never sent for translation.

Device and usage data

Only if you turn on purpose 6, we record anonymous usage, such as which screens are opened and the type of device and browser. It carries no name, phone number or address.

How we keep it safe

IDs you add are encrypted. Staff access depends on their role and is logged. Usage counts carry no name, phone number or address.

How long we keep it

If you do not use your passport for 24 months, we remind you. After 36 months without use, it is deleted unless you renew it. When you delete your passport, your personal data is erased within 30 days. We keep only counts that cannot point to you.

Your rights

You can see and download your data, correct it, withdraw any consent, delete your passport, name a person to act for you if you cannot, and complain to us. If our answer does not satisfy you, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

Changes to this notice

When this notice changes in a way that affects what you agreed to, we show you the new version and ask you again.

Questions and complaints

Write to our Grievance Officer. The grievance page says how, and how fast we answer. You can also use Help and complaints in the app.
